Chinese New Year Preparation

Today was just like any other ordinary school day. At the moment the bell rang and we were dismissed, I went back home, ready to help my family with the decorations for the coming Chinese New Year. When I got back, nearly half of the job was already done. We just had to finish all the remaining work and to clean up after that. When we were done, we continued on, now to make the traditional biscuits and the tarts. My father was in charge as he was the expert at making all these things and nobody could do it better than him. We also helped along the way, trying to do as much as we can. While helping, we also joked about all the random thoughts that came to us and we had a great time. After all the baking in the kitchen, we were finished for the day. We washed up all the equipments and after that, we even had the smell of butter all on us! We ended the day with a scrumptious dinner prepared by my mum. Surprisingly, I really enjoyed this day with my family. That will be all for now and I hope to blog even more next time.

A Bad Fall

Today, I rushed frantically to the Bedok Tennis Court for my lessons afraid that I would be late but to my enormous relief, the class had not started yet. After doing my warm ups with the rest of the class, we started playing. After many rallies, a short break was issued by the coach. During the break, we sat down and started talking about many different topics. Shortly after, we got back to the court and started practicing on our volleys. Our coach instructed us along the way, correcting us of our wrong habits while volleying. We then continued on to our over-head smashes, which our coach emphasised alot on. As this stroke was new to me, I was quite lost and scared that I would be scolded for doing it wrongly. Forunately, I was quite able to execute the smash smoothly and I even got complimented.
Something bad then happened. My coach gave me a lob over my head and I immediately ran back, trying to get the ball back into play. While running backwards, I tripped over a tennis ball and with a loud "Thump", I fell onto the floor.

I felt dizzy for a while but I regained my consciousness and noticed that everyone was looking at me. I struggled to get my feet up and I felt an extreme pain on my left hand. I limped towards my coach and he examined me for any injuries. Then, I was directed to the the bench to get some rest. I got treated with some ice and the pain subsided eventually. Luckily, I didn't get any serious injury and I learnt to be more careful.

Many enjoy sports and gaming and so do I but nothing interests me more than reading. Staying back in the school library, I took an interesting book titled The Pearl. Flipping through the first few pages, I found the book extremely interesting and engaging. After what seemed like a few minutes, I realised that I was done with the book. Many feel that reading is simple and a waste of time but I beg to differ. Reading books require a wide variety of vocabulary to understand what is happening in the story. Also,  it requires an understanding of the author's writing style. Reading allows one to open his eyes to the many different styles of writing and widens your range of vocabulary. We can also learn moral values from books which can relate to us in any point of our lives. Books open to us a whole new world in which we slowly learn more about through reading the book. Books are excellent stress relievers in which affects me greatly.
After reading a book, I feel relaxed and at ease. Appreciating the writing style of the author allows you to enjoy the book. While reading the book, I start to think how it relates to me and I begin to appreciate the people and things around me. I feel that books allow us to realise how to appreciate the many things happening around us and how we embrace this. With books, our lives become more fulfilling and enriching. With books, we escape reality into a make believe world.

A time I enjoyed with my Family

Last Saturday, as usual, I was the last to wake up as I am always deprived of sleep during weekdays because of school. While brushing my teeth, I suddenly remembered that we were going to re-paint our rooms today! I felt so excited and rushed to finish my homework as quick as I could. After having lunch as a whole family, we started preparing to move the furniture and got the brushes ready.
Then, my father, who was taking charge of the overall planning, gave us some useful tips that we could observe while painting, especially at the corners. After dividing the workload, we started work in no time. While painting, we were also joking and sharing about what happened during the last few days. After a few hours, we had finally completed painting the rooms! Time really flies when you are enjoying yourself, don't you agree with that? After all of our work, we admired the beautiful view of our newly-painted rooms.
A thought then struck me. While we were still children, we depended so much on our family, I remember the times when all our drawings would be based on our family. But as we grew older, we made friends and slowly drifted apart from our families. Families are the strong pillars in which support us when we are at all times including our weakest. Slowly, we forget what our families have sacrificed in hope that we will grow up into fine young people. We must never forget how noble our families are and most importantly, we must not let them down after all they did for us.

Something that happened in School

Today, just after assembly, my classmates strolled back to class, trying to waste some lesson time. We were then greeted with a particularly complicated Math lesson. Our teacher, who incidentally happened to be our form teacher walked into our class and we all settled down after an enthusiastic greeting. He then told us to take our textbooks out while he distributed a new worksheet.
Taking a glance at the questions on the worksheet, I thought this would be an easy chapter but I did not know what was I in for. After giving us a few worked examples, he told us to start working on the worksheet he handed out. Unable to comprehend the equations, I looked around and I could see the expression of confusion on most of my classmates' faces. It seemed like he was just gliding through the whole chapter and left us puzzled.

I felt irritated as I was not able to solve the problems. Looking at the worksheet again, I attempted the question. After a few tries, I was still unable to complete the questions and got frustrated.
Then, I tried my best to listen hard to the explanation provided by our teacher and attempted the question again. Finally, with much concentration, I managed to solve the question successfully and felt contented with myself. I realised that the question itself was not as hard as I believed them to be. With a good grasp on the concept, I could easily deal with the other questions. I learnt that I had to pay attention to the teacher in class so that I would not lose out.

Thoughts on blogging

Hello! Welcome to my blog. This is the first time i am creating a blog and i'm still new to all the features of blogging. To be honest, I would rather keep a diary or a journal than to switch on my computer just to blog. I find it easier to pen down my thoughts and it also saves me some time. Also, I don't really find blogging safe as there isn't much privacy as everybody can see what i write. For some other people, they may get too addicted to blogging and it will not be good for them. Besides all these, blogging may also be a good thing as it can help people express thier feelings, thoughts and views about some things that may have happened. It can also help them to feel better when they get to say what they want to say and not to keep their emotions in their minds. Thats all for now, Bye!
